Kayaks on the River

Kingston, Idaho
July 14, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 400: 1/320 Sec.: f/10
This is the river right by where we stayed about 7 miles North of the Kingston Exit.  My brother brought his two kayaks and we spent a lot of time on the river.  I wanted to set up one shot that showed the kayaks floating int he river to add the bright yellow to the frame.  See the river at night here.

Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 65 mm: ISO 100: .60 sec.: f/18
This is from the Fire Wave looking back.  It was the only way to actually get the colors of the sunset in the photograph.

Coeur d'Alene River at Night

Kingston, Idaho
July 14, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 800: 30 sec.: f/7.1
For our family reunion this year, we stayed at a place on the river about 7 miles north of Kingston, Idaho.  I spent a lot of time shooting the river because it was so convenient and I wanted to work with long exposures at night.  I am quite pleased with this shot.

Fire Wave

Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada
May 11, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 21 mm: ISO 400: 1/200 sec.: f/10
I spent an hour or so shooting the Fire Wave in the changing light.  Unfortunately, the sunset didn't hit the wave perfectly so the glow wasn't great, but I spent the evening enjoying a nice chat with Massimo Ripani.  I have about 5 similar photos that I liked and will be posting in the upcoming weeks.

Endless Streaks

Valley of Fire, Nevada
May 11, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 46 mm: ISO 400: 1/160 sec.: f/9
Not knowing I was right by the Fire Wave, I hiked back to the road and wandered around trying to find Crazy Hill unsuccessfully.  So I headed back to fire canyon and got there a half hour or so before sunset.  This is taken from down by the fire wave looking North.

Blooming Cactus

Valley of Fire, Nevada
May 11, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 60 mm: ISO 100: 1/320 sec.: f/8
After walking through the short canyon, I wondered around for a while not knowing where I was going. Somewhere near the fire wave I stumbled across this cactus.

Pastel Canyon

Valley of Fire, Nevada
May 11, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 400: 1/200 sec.: f/10
After a lot of wondering through the desert, I finally found Pastel Canyon (also known as Pink Canyon).  The left wall was pink with the right wall being purple
