Kingston, Idaho
July 16, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 100: 10 sec.: f/14: Hoya ND8: Cokin Grad ND
We didn't get many good sunsets while we were in Northern Idaho, but I did enjoy this night as the storm clouds mixed with the sunset.  Here is the view at night and during the day.

Coeur d'Alene River

Kingston, Idaho
July, 16, 2013

Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 3200: 1/40 sec.: f/22: Hoya ND 8: Cokin Grad ND
This photo was done the same time as this one, but I decided to crop this one down to put more focus on the river and less on the clouds.

Coeur d'Alene River at Night 3

Kingston, Idaho
July 15, 2013
This was taken right near where we were staying at the Country Lane Resort a few miles North of Kingston.  I spent a lot of time out shooting the river while my family gathered around the camp fire. See a couple more shots of the river at night here and here.  Here is the same view during the day.

Clouds on the River 2

Coeur d"Alene River, Kingston, Idaho
July 16, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 3200: 1/5 sec.: f/14: Hoya ND 8, Cokin Grad ND
I loved the way the clouds and their reflection made a natural oval.  Check out an earlier photograph minutes before the clouds rolled in here.

Clouds on the River

Coeur d'Alene River, Idaho
July 16, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 20 mm: ISO 3200: 1/8 sec.: f/22: Hoya ND 8
I noticed some clouds rolling in so I walked down to the river and set up to shoot for about an hour.  More photos will show how the clouds rolled in.  This is North of the Kingston exit about 7 miles.  You'll notice I forgot to drop my ISO back down after shooting the night before--oops!

Field of Elk

Kingston, Idaho
July 15, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 46 mm: ISO 3200: 1/8 sec.: f/4.5
Just down the street from where we were staying was a giant field that filled with deer and elk every evening.  I took this out the window of the car and the light was so low, I couldn't help getting a lot of blur.

Couer d'Alene River

Kingston, Idaho
July 14, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 18 mm: ISO 100: 30 sec.: f/8
I loved the reflection of the moon in the water.  If I didn't have a baby keeping me busy at night, I would have loved to go out later when there were more stars out.  Check out a similar shot at the same location here.

Mastro's Ocean Club

Las Vegas, Nevada
July 6, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 46 mm: ISO 100: 1/5 sec.: f/9
With some family in town, we took a walk down the strip and this is inside Crystals.  It's a really cool restaurant that kind of floats above the first story.  I didn't have any gear with me so this didn't come out very sharp, but I liked the composition.  I should have bumped the ISO up to speed up the shutter, but I didn't want to slow everyone else down while I was making adjustments.

Downtown Wallace

Wallace, Idaho
July 15, 2013
Nikon D3100: Tamron 18-270 at 23 mm: ISO 400: 1/400 sec.: f/11
Downtown Wallace is quite scenic in Northern Idaho as it is nestled in a valley surrounded by green mountains.  Some may recognize this as the town where Dante's Peak was filmed.
